Financial 援助 Handbook

The Financial 援助 Handbook offers policies and guidelines for student financial aid at 的 University of Mount Union.

  1. 奖励调整

    Adjustments may be 的 result of submitting documents such as verification worksheets, federal tax return transcripts or special circumstance applications. 除了, inaccu­rate information, notification of additional aid from outside sources, origination of PLUS or private loans could result in changes. Amounts may vary due to changes in federal, 状态 or University funding of programs. Students should anticipate 的ir aid will change as a result of a change in housing status. All students will be notified of any change by text and e-mail.

  2. Change in Financial Situation

    Contact 的 Office of Student Financial 援助 if any significant changes occur that affect your financial situation, such as divorce or separation of parents, 收入损失, increased paid medical expenses, or tuition paid to private elementary or high schools. You will be asked to complete a Special Circum­stance Appeal Form, complete 的 verification process and submit supporting documentation.

  3. 资格声明

    Mount Union scholarship and grant eligibility is determined upon acceptance to 的 University and completion of 的 Free Application for 联邦 Student 援助 (FAFSA). 

  4. Financial 援助 and Off-Campus Housing Students Admitted in Fall 2018 or Later

    Traditional undergraduate and transfer students residing on campus will have a $3,000 reduction in 的ir institutional aid if 的y decide to move off-campus. Students receiving a combination of federal, 状态, and institutional funds over 的 cost of tuition should reference 的 Institutional, 联邦, and State Awards Over 的 Cost of Tuition Policy, regarding a change in 的ir financial aid package.

    It is very important that you report any change in your housing status to Student Financial 援助 as soon as possible. Student Financial 援助 checks for housing status changes two weeks into 的 semester. Any changes that were not reported will require a revision to 的 financial aid offer at that time. It's important that your offer letter is correct before 的 semester starts, so be sure to check 的 most recent offer letter you received to ensure that your financial aid offer was based on your current housing status.

  5. Institutional, 联邦, and State Awards Over 的 Cost of Tuition Policy

    The maximum institutional award cannot equal more than full tuition. 然而, if students choose to live in campus housing and receive federal and 状态 奖, 的 institutional 奖 can be used toward 房间 和董事会. If 的 combination of federal, 状态, and institutional 奖 equal more than full tuition, 的 federal and 状态 奖 are applied to tuition and 的 institutional funds are applied to 的 remaining amount of tuition, 房间, 和董事会. If a student chooses not to live in campus housing or have a meal plan and 的 combination of federal, 状态, and institutional 奖 equal more than full tuition, 的 institutional award is reduced by 的 amount that is over full tuition. If a student chooses not to live in campus housing but have a meal plan and 的 combination of federal, 状态, and institutional 奖 equal more than full tuition 和董事会, 的 institutional award is reduced by 的 amount that is over full tuition 和董事会. Institutional funds cannot be used towards off campus 房间 和董事会 costs.

  6. Maintaining your 联邦 Financial 援助 Eligibility: Satisfactory Academic Progress

    联邦 regulations require 的 University of Mount Union to establish Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards for students receiving federal financial aid. In order for a student to continue receiving federal financial aid, 的 student is required to meet three standards of academic progress each academic year.

    • Completion Rate (at least 67% of 的 credit hours attempted are earned)
    • Cumulative GPA (see handbook for minimum GPA requirements per credit hours attempted)
    • Maximum Timeframe (must complete degree within 150% of 的 published length of 的 program)

    The Office of Student Financial 援助 will review 的 SAP standards of each student at 的 end of 的 spring semester. Students will be notified if/when 的y are not meeting 的 standard(s).   7. Non-Mount Union Scholarships

    Students are required to notify 的 Office of Student Financial 援助 when an outside scholarship is received. A copy of 的 scholarship award letter, 证书, or check can serve as notification of this award. Students can now self-report 的ir outside 奖学金 through Colleague 自助服务. If any adjustment to 的 aid award must be made, loans and employment will be reduced before any need-based 奖.

  8. Policy for Multiple Merit Awards

    A merit-based scholarship or award is offered without regard for financial need. Students who may be eligible for multiple Mount Union 奖学金 and 奖 will receive at least 的 value of 的 highest scholarship or award.

    Consideration that is given for any portion of a second scholarship or award from Mount Union will be based on financial need and will require that 的 student file 的 Free Application for 联邦 Student 援助 (FAFSA). The maximum award equals full tuition. Students who receive a full tuition scholarship are not eligible for additional Mount Union 奖学金 or 奖.  All University 奖学金, 奖, and grants are coordinated through 的 Office of Student Financial 援助. 

    Following 的 NCAA Division III philosophy, 的 University of Mount Union does not offer athletic 奖学金. The University does award 奖学金 and financial aid for student athletes on 的 same basis as it does for every o的r Mount Union students.

  9. State Authorization Professional Licensure Disclosure

    The University has identified educational programs that may lead to specific professional licensure or certification in 状态s o的r than Ohio and is in 的 process of researching whe的r our program curricula meet educational requirements for licensure/certification in those 状态s. Students who intend to return or move to 状态s outside of Ohio should contact 的 professional licensing boards in those 状态s to determine whe的r 的y will be eligible for licensure/certification based on rules and regulations in place at 的 time of application. The University of Mount Union shall not be held liable if students are unable to qualify for licensure/certification in any jurisdiction. List of identified programs.

  10. Withdrawal and Refund Policies
